I have been dealing with Easton Press volumes since 1995.  In that time I have accumulated many contacts who are also working on extensive Eason Press collections.  I have yet to hear from someone that is not happy with their Easton Press collection.

However, from time to time, unfortunate circumstances may force a collector to sell their collection.  Some may simply choose to sell the collection because they no longer have room or the spouse is demanding that you downsize.  If you find yourself in this situation or you have a collection on your hands due to unfortunate circumstances with a friend or family member, I can help you.

I have an extensive list of Easton Press collectors on my notification list.  In most cases, the notification list is all it takes to move your collection into the hands of another collector.  Beyond my notification list, the best place to sell your volumes is on eBay which regularly lists 300 - 500 various Easton Press items.  I can help on eBay as well.

I offer the following services to someone looking to sell their collection.

  • I can purchase your entire collection large or small.  The largest single collection that I have handled had over 500 volumes in it.

  • I can broker your collection in its entirety to my notification list for a 2% fee.  This service simply provides you access to my contacts.  I never give out or divulge the contacts on my notification list and I never sell that information.  I will send the message to that list in your behalf and assist both parties in completing the sale.

  • I can act as your agent in selling your collection.  This is the highest level service that I offer.  This service comes with a 15% - 20% fee and includes the following:

    • I will receive your volumes in groups or the entire collection at your discretion

    • I will verify and certify the condition of all volumes and offer them individually to the people on my notification list first

    • Any items that don't sell to the notification list will be listed on eBay

    • I will handle all of the individual payments, shipments, and will answer any and all questions concerning the volumes

    • You will pay all packing charges should packing materials be required and all fees associated with the sale of the volumes including eBay listing fees, eBay final value fees, and PayPal/Billpoint transaction charges.  Shipping charges get included in the buyers payments, but are deducted before remitting the remainder back to you.

    • Once those fees are deducted along with my 15% - 20% brokerage fee, I will remit the remainder of the payment back to you via PayPal.  If you want immediate payment as items clear, are paid for, and ship, I use PayPal.  A check or money order can be sent as well, but it will delay the receipt of your funds 2 - 3 weeks.

You may be wondering why you should use my brokerage services at a fee instead of simply listing the volumes on eBay yourself.  You can certainly do that, however, you would then have to deal with all of the elements of selling each volume individually.  There are a few very bad sellers of Easton Press volumes on eBay, therefore many people that are out there looking are very careful about whom they purchase from.  Many people will not purchase from someone new to eBay.  I eliminate all of that.  I am known and recognized on eBay and people bid on my auctions simply because I am listing them and they know they can trust me.  My feedback as of May 25, 2001 passed over the 80 mark and should break the 100 barrier very shortly.  I am a SquareTrade seal member which means I have been through identity verification and my selling practices have been reviewed by SquareTrade.  All SquareTrade seal members have a commitment to resolving any and all issues in a timely manner.  I am expecting to get my eBay PowerSeller seal shortly which is only granted to those maintaining an extremely good feedback track record on eBay along with the sales volumes.  I also have all of the auction management tools that allow for streamlined posting and management of multiple auctions.  In short, part of the fee I charge is for your use of my name and reputation.  In addition, it gives you access to my private notification list, through me, for individual volumes instead of the entire collection which increases your chance of selling all of the volumes very quickly.

If you are debating selling your collection on eBay, I won't discourage you, but I can help educate you on the effort that it will take.  I recently broke down a full 100 Greatest Books collection and sold every volume through eBay.  This collection did not get to my notification list first because I had already sold 12 full 100 Greatest Books collections through it and I wanted the perspective of what it would take to do the same through eBay.  This collection was in mint condition.  It came in the original shrink/bubble wrap and the original shipping cartons, 1/2 of which had never been opened.  I listed the volumes at approximately 12 - 15 per day, each with a Buy It Now! price except for the first 12 volumes which always seem to command a premium due to their being placed very far back in the shipping order for this collection.  It took over 6 weeks to sell all of the volumes.  Approximately 15% went immediately via the Buy It Now! feature.  Another 35% went the full 7 days of the auction and sold above the opening bid price.  Another 20% went at the opening bid price.  The remaining 30% didn't sell the first time around and had to be relisted.  Of those, 17 volumes did not get a bid even after taking $8 off the bid during the relisting.  A collector starting a collection came through right at the end and took 16 of those 17 at $12 off the opening bid price.  A second collector took the remaining volume at the same price.  On average I spent 2 hours per night answering questions, packing books, verifying payments, sending confirmations, verifying receipt of packages, etc.  I also spent an average of 1 hour per day at the post office sending out that days shipments.  The 100 volumes sold to 67 different collectors with over 90% of them only purchasing 1 volume.  About 5% of them made multiple purchases,  but at different times resulting in separate shipments.

If you are looking to sell your collection and would like to discuss the options, please contact me.
